Samsung recently announced that it would begin rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie update for the Galaxy M-series smartphones in early June. Surprisingly, however, the Android Pie update has already started rolling out for the Galaxy M30.
The Pie update for the Galaxy M30 arrives as version M305FDDU1BSEA and weighs in at 1.14 GB in terms of size. As expected, the update brings Samsung’s new One UI to the Galaxy M-series smartphone. The latest May Android security patch is included as well. Currently, the update is rolling out only in India via the OTA route. In the coming days, however, we can expect the Pie update to spread to other regions as well.
Focused on improved single-handed usability, Samsung’s One UI is a significantly lighter custom user-interface layer when compared to Samsung’s previous Experience UX. In addition to a lighter and more visually appealing UI, Galaxy M30 owners will also notice a new Night Mode as well as new Bixby routines.
As confirmed by Samsung last week, it will begin seeding the stable Android Pie update for the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 smartphones from June 3 onwards in India. It might take a week or two longer for the company to begin pushing out the same update in other markets. The Galaxy M10, M20, and M30 smartphones were all launched in the first quarter of the year with Android 8.1 Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.5 UI out of the box.
