With VIVO’s XPlay 5 already sporting a ridiculous 6GB of RAM and Samsung rumored to pack the same amount of memory power underneath its upcoming Galaxy Note 6, it’s no surprise that 4GB of RAM will soon be the baseline for future mid range smartphones. For reference, 6GB of RAM is double the amount of RAM from the flagships of 2014. Last year’s standard was 4GB of RAM and it somewhat remained the same for this year’s flagship handsets so far.
On the contrary, mid range smartphones have seen a bump in RAM, with most 2016 handsets featuring 3GB or 4GB of RAM alongside pretty impressive processors, and Samsung is set to lock that fact down. An Antutu benchmark was spotted on the web, of a SM-C700, rumored to be the Samsung Galaxy C7. According to the benchmark, the Galaxy C7 sports a 1080p display, which is rumored to be at 5.5 inches. Underneath the hood is a powerful Snapdragon 625 processor, which is said to feature 14nm process like on the Snapdragon 820. The SoC is also the alleged successor to the Snapdragon 617. Running alongside the SD 625 is an Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
The Galaxy C7’s camera optics feature a 16MP rear shooter and an 8MP selfie camera. 4GB of RAM was predicted to be an overkill not too long ago for Android handsets, looks like there’s no turning back. There hasn’t been any projected price for the Galaxy C7 but the device will most probably be limited to the Chinese market. Time will tell. What do you think?
