TouchWiz, Samsung’s own software that runs on top of the Android OS on its smartphones, didn’t have the prettiest history especially during its earlier days. The Samsung customized software was often criticized for it overwhelming features and excessive bloatware, which led to its devices lagging and slowing down in the long run. Thankfully, Samsung has been working hard behind the scenes to polish and improve its software to the TouchWiz we see today. But wait, the “TouchWiz” name has been ditched by the company.

In the latest Nougat beta software update for the Galaxy S7, Samsung has left the “TouchWiz” title to bite the dust for a newer name, “Samsung Experience”, though not as creatively named as the former. One thing to note is TouchWiz hasn’t been mentioned officially by the South Korean manufacturer for a couple of years now. Even the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 had its software named Grace UX. Speaking of which, the streamlined software that was short lived on the Galaxy Note 7 has now been brought to the Galaxy S7 as “Samsung Experience”.

It is no doubt that Samsung has put its own UI on slimming pills over the years. We can now safely say that Samsung’s Android software experience has finally met the standards of the company’s beautifully designed smartphones. With more simplicity and less junk, Samsung Experience is indeed the product of Samsung’s maturity from its history. What do you think of Samsung’s newly polished software experience?
