Samsung delays Galaxy Note 7 shipment over exploding phones claim

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 has not had the smoothest of launch thanks to a lack of units to ship out. Today, that shipment issue is further compounded as Samsung has stated that it will be delaying shipments of the smartphone to conduct “additional tests” to verify “product quality.”

While Samsung did not mention anything regarding the nature of the Note 7’s “product quality,” an educated guess can be made that the additional tests are done to check if the exploding Note 7 incident is an anomaly, or something far worse. In the meantime, Samsung is halting shipments of the Note 7 to South Korea’s top three mobile carriers.

As Apple is set to launch the iPhone 7 next week, Samsung’s troubles with the Note 7 is not exactly helpful to their cause. Indeed, Samsung’s shares were down by three percent today. “Apple is supposed to show off the iPhone 7 next week and this issue has emerged, so the current state of things do not look good,” says Park Jung-hoon, Fund Manager for HDC Asset Management . Here’s to hoping that Samsung manages to iron out the issues plaguing the launch of the Note 7 in the coming weeks.
