Samsung and MBO announces another Samsung Onyx LED theater in Atria Sopping Gallery in conjunction of Spider-Man: Far From Home screening

Samsung, in collaboration with MBO, introduces another Samsung Onyx-equipped theatre hall in the country. Onyx is a projector-less theatre hall fitted with an LED screen as opposed to the traditional projector screen.

This is MBO’s first involvement with what Samsung calls Cinema LED tech, and it’s located in their Atria Shopping Gallery outpost. There is currently one hall equipped with Samsung Onyx at the branch.

With LED tech, what you get is much deeper black compared to projectors, while a little demo reel showcased during the event highlighted a sharper and brighter display. Onyx is capable of pushing 500nitts in brightness compared to the 48nitts displayed by conventional projectors.

MBO’s hall in Atria Shopping Gallery comes equipped with Harman’s JBL Surround Sound system, which according to Samsung is fine-tuned to project sound to a “sweet spot” where the audience are.

The launch today coincides with the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, hence the whole Spidey get-up.

On July 5, Samsung Mobile App users can enjoy a buy-one-free-one promo when they purchase an Onyx movie ticket at MBO Atria Shopping Gallery.
