In 2016 OnePlus released the X series focused on the mid-range consumers but it was not a popular phone and performance was not on par with the other mid-range phones. With the success of the other flagship phones, it seemed that the company ditched their X-series phones to put the focus on their flagship devices. However, rumours indicate that they might be reviving the X-series this year.
According to these rumours, OnePlus might release the OnePlus X2 which will be officially announced after the OnePlus 6 launch which will happen somewhere in the middle of the year. Unlike the previous X phone, the X2 will come with the still powerful Snapdragon 835 due to the extra 825 chips they have left over from the 5T release. Other than that, it comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage depending on the variant. The rumours also mentioned that it will come with a 5.5-inch 16:9 display, 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera with Face Unlock and it is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
The phone is said to come with a price tag of $230 to $260, whether it will be launch alongside the OnePlus 6 is still unsure but just like all rumours, it might not be true.
Update: Karl Pei, Co-Founder of OnePlus has taken to Twitter to address the OnePlus X2 rumours with just a single “Nope”. Looks like the company is not gracing the mid-range market with their phones.
