In an effort to reinvigorate the local economy, interim prime minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad introduced the 2020 stimulus package which will see monetary incentives being injected into different sectors of our industry.

One of which is the local tourism arena – here, each person will get a RM100 digital voucher for domestic flights, trains, and hotel accommodations to encourage Malaysians to travel locally. The aim here is to offset some of the damage done by the COVID-19 outbreak has cut short the any influx of foreign tourists.

Another travel-related incentive is an income tax relief of up to RM1,000 on spending in the domestic tourism sector.

There are other incentives too for business owners within the industry, but we’re not going to get into too much detail on that.

So, if you’re in need of a short staycation somewhere, why not get it sorted locally and boost our economy at the same time?
