Rest in Peace Satoru Iwata, Nintendo fans will miss you

Its a pretty sad day to start the week, as Nintendo has officially announced the death of its President Satoru Iwata, he died at the age of 55 and the cause of death is due to bile duct growth, a very rare illness.

Iwata succeeded Hiroshi Yamauchi in 2002 and used to be a programmer at the company’s subsidiary HAL, the man is credited for leading the company’s Nintendo DS and Wii consoles to success. While the company’s Wii U console hasn’t seen much success as its predecessor, Iwata has announced new initiatives to move into mobile gaming and a ‘Quality of Life’ program.

For the time being, no successor has been announced to replace Iwata however the company maintains two directors – Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto. Deep down in our hearts, we will truly miss the kind and polite late Chief of Nintendo, fans will definitely miss the “Ask Iwata” series that will involve Mario and Zelda news from the company. We will miss you, Iwata-san.
