We reckon you already have a go-to smartphone that’s at least a mid-ranged daily driver – but if you’re thinking of getting a secondary phone for travelling or assassinations jobs business, you’re going to need one that won’t break the bank but will still perform admirably.
In comes the Redmi Go – an entry-level device that comes with lightweight Android Go operating system. For the uninitiated, Android Go is essentially a stripped-down version of Android Oreo that has been re-worked to run on entry-level devices. The OS itself takes up very little storage space, and can run with just 1GB RAM.
Along with the OS are tailor-made essential apps such as Google Go, YouTube Go, Gmail Go and more – you get the gist. Although these apps, combined with the Android Go OS, your entry-level device should run smoothly while still having ample space for more apps and files; but it comes at the cost of extra app and OS features that.
Now, back to the phone. The Redmi Go is said to be available this by the end of this week. It sports a compact 5.0-inch HD display with no notches. It does have a 5MP selfie camera and an 8MP main lens at the back.
Under the hood, you’ll find 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage that’s expandable via microSD card, and a Snapdragon 425 chipset. There’s also a decently sized 3,000mAh battery and a microUSB port. Not too shabby especially when the device only costs RM299.
