If making over-the-top expensive cameras are not enough, camera maker RED, has just announced that they are releasing a smartphone called Hydrogen One and the feature that makes this phone stand out is that I have a holographic display. The 5.7-inch screen uses nanotechnology to switch between traditional 2D, holographic multi-view content, 3D content, and interactive games.
The camera maker also said that they will use an algorithm to convert stereo sound into multi-dimensional audio to add more immersion to the content. The phone will also support modular attachments, similar to the Moto Z2 Play which we recently wrote about here. Not much else in known about the phone, but we do know that it has a hand grip like design, a small camera bump, has a USB Type-C port, microSD card slot and the all-important headphone jack. The phone will also work with the existing RED line of cameras, but there is no information on how the two will interface.
As you know, RED cameras are very expensive, and their phone will be no different. It will ship in early 2018 and is available for pre-order on their website now, the phone will retail for $1,195 for the aluminium version and $1,595 for the titanium version.
