Asus’ Zenfones are usually known for their Intel SoC’s packed in them. In fact, they have turned out to be one of Intel’s biggest partners when it comes to mobile devices. However, the growing competition of mobile processors has caused Intel to scrape their plans for future mobile processors. As a results, we will be looking Qualcomm Snapdragon chips under the hoods of the next iteration of Zenfones.
According to Digi Times, Asus CEO Jerry Shen has stated that the next Zenfone lineup will be unveiled next month. The statement by Shen could mean that Asus will be launching the Zenfones in conjunction with Computex at Taiwan. According to him, some of the Zenfone 3 handsets will be powered by MediaTek chips as well, but Qualcomm will be taking a big cut of 90% of the Zenfones.
