Qualcomm has a new midrange chipset in the Snapdragon 678 – it replaces the two-year-old Snapdragon 675 and brings necessary upgrade across the board.
Making up the chipset are the higher-clocked Kyro 460 CPU and improved Adreno 612 GPU. The chipset is also equipped with the Spectra 250L ISP which allows up to 48MP resolution and zero shutter lag. It’s embedded with Qualcomm’s 3rd-Gen AI Engine that improves portrait mode, low-light capture, and laser autofocus.
For connectivity, there’s a Snapdragon X12 LTE Modem that supports up to 600Mbps download speeds, and 150Mbps download speeds. There’s support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ tech as well.
There’s no word yet on what phones will be equipped with the Snapdragon 678, but we’ll keep you posted when we receive more information.
