The legal battle between Qualcomm and Apple has escalated next level, as the former has recently won the lawsuit in banning old iPhone models (iPhone X and older) due to patent infringement, it now doesn’t want to spare the new iPhone XS and iPhone XR.
The patent that Apple infringed is related to app management and resizing photos, which Apple has already resolved in iOS 12, and theoretically the company should not be affected by the ban should all of the retail units are being upgraded to iOS 12.
Nonetheless, Qualcomm is expected to use the same argument to attempt to ban Apple’s sales in China, however The Financial Times reported that this could be a strategy to lead Apple to settlement talks, which is already probably too late by now as Apple already has intentions to make its own modems for future iPhones to sever ties with Qualcomm.
Qualcomm, just let this rest and make more awesome chips for Android phones, can’t you?
