Qualcomm introduces the Snapdragon 670 upper mid-range processor

The mid-range phone market is the money maker, with companies offering phones with good performing mid-range processors for the price that we would expect entry-level phones to have. Qualcomm wants to improve the mid-range segment with the recently announced Snapdragon 670 mobile processor.

You might also remember that Qualcomm has released the Snapdragon 710 processor that places itself between the 600 and 800 series processor. The 710 is meant to offer users better performance than a mid-range processor but at a cheaper price. The 670 takes a lot of its specifications from the 710 as it comes with two Kryo 360 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and six Kryo 360 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. For graphics, it uses the Adreno 615 GPU which is just a small step down from the Adreno 616 which is used in the Snapdragon 710 processor and supports a single 25MP sensor or dual 16MP sensors. Overall, it blurs the line between the 600 series and 700 series but will cost lower than the 710 processor.

The processor is now available for phone manufacturers to implement in their upcoming phones and we should expect to see phones using this processor very soon.
