Qualcomm introduces the Snapdragon 653, 626 and 427 mid-range SoCs

Today, Qualcomm has announced three new processors, two of which comes from the company’s mid-range Snapdragon 600 line, while the other is part of the Snapdragon 400 series. These processors are the Snapdragon 653, the Snapdragon 626, and the Snapdragon 427.

We start of with the Snapdragon 653, the direct successor to the Snapdragon 652. This processor sports a 1.95GHz CPU as well as multiple architectural improvements, giving it a 10 percent performance increase over the 652. The Snapdragon 653 comes with 8GB of addressable RAM, and comes with Enhanced Voice Services (EVS) on VoLTE calls. The Snapdragon 653 will be pin and software compatible with the Snapdragon 650 and 652.

Next up is the Snapdragon 626. Sporting a 2.2GHz CPU, as well as a 10 percent performance improvement over the Snapdragon 625, the Snapdragon 626 comes with Qualcomm’s TruSignal antenna boost, a piece of technology that is engineered to improve signal reception in congested areas. The Snapdragon 626 is pin compatible with the Snapdragon 625, and it will be software compatible with the Snapdragon 625, 425, 427, 430, and 435.

Finally, we have the OEM-centric Snapdragon 427. The Snapdragon 427 is the first in the 400-series to come with TruSignal antenna tuning, giving it better voice and data quality. The Snapdragon 427 is pin and software compatible with the Snapdragon 425, 430 and 435. It will also be software compatible with the Snapdragon 625 and 626. 

All three processors mentioned above will come with an integrated Snapdragon X9 LTE modem that is engineered to achieve up to 50 percent faster upload speeds than the preexisting X8 LTE. The processors will support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology, and it’ll have dual camera support for clear imaging and photos across a wide variety of lighting and shooting situations.
