Qualcomm has just announced Quick Charge 3+ technology which is a more affordable option catered for lower-cost products like phones, peripherals and chargers.
Quick Charge 3+ will first be available on Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 and 765G. The company reported that it can charge a phone from 0% to 50% in just 15 minutes, and it’s 35% faster than its predecessor. It’ll also support scalable voltage with 20mV steps from Quick Charge 4 and because it’ll come with USB Type-A to Type-C cables, it will be more affordable for both OEMs and consumers.
The first phone that’ll come with the new technology should be the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite Zoom. However, Quick Charge 3+ is also backward compatible with previous generations, so it will be supporting a wide range of peripherals that consumers may already own.
With midrange devices being launched with 5G connectivity, the availability of Quick Charge 3+ that supports USB Type-A to Type-C cables is a smart move. After all, 5G technology drains the battery quicker than its predecessor, so we’ll need fast charging to balance that out.
