Any former Pokemon GO player would think that the Niantic developed mobile game title has been presumably dead for some time now. If you happen to fall under that category, Niantic has proven you wrong once again, as the game still has a healthy number of active users every month, and the team is planning to enhance the Pokemon GO experience in the months to come.
According to a blog post on Niantic’s website, the company boasted a slew of awards the popular game title has gotten so far, highlighting the most recent Best Mobile and Handheld Game at the British Academy of Film, Television and Arts Game Awards. It’s not all strut and boast as Niantic also took the opportunity to thank everyone including their partners at the Pokemon Company for the amazing awards garnered since its launch, including but not limited to:
- Adweek’s Hot List – Hottest Digital Obsession & Hottest Mobile Game
- Academy of Arts and Science’s D.I.C.E. Awards – Mobile Game of the Year
- BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards – Best Game
- GameSpot – Best Mobile Games of the Year
- Golden Joystick Awards – Innovation of the Year & Handheld/Mobile Game of the Year
- GSMA Glomo Awards 2017 – Best Overall Mobile App
- IGN – Mobile Game of the Year
- SXSW Gaming Awards – Mobile Game of the Year
- TechCrunch’s Crunchies – Best App of the Year
- The Game Awards – Best Mobile/Handheld Game & Best Family Game
- The Game Developers Choice Awards – Best Mobile/Handheld Game
On top of that, Niantic has also announced that Pokemon GO players can “look forward to all new cooperative social gameplay experiences” in the future as the team continues to please its 65+ million strong base of still active users. The last major update of Pokemon GO included the addition of 2nd gen Pokemon to the game. What do you think will be next?
