Recently, a developer managed to get portrait mode on the Pixel 2 to work on older Google phones like the Nexus 6P and 5X. Now, another developer took a huge step forward by making the feature work on phones running Android Oreo.

The app is called Camera NX and it has been tested to work on OnePlus 3/3T, Moto G5S Plus, and even the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 running on a leaked Oreo beta build. It is said to work with any phone running on 64-bits with Oreo but when we were testing it with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, the app just seems to crash and return to the home screen. Another bad news is the feature only works with the back camera, as the developer has not figured out a way to make it work with the front camera yet.

If you want to try the app and experience Google’s excellent bokeh effect, you can download the app here. Do note that you need to sideload the app or download the app using your phone and install it directly.
