OPPO reveals patents to mask punch-hole camera

It’s no secret that OPPO are proponents of mobile phone camera-related advancements; the Chinese phone brand revealed their 10x hybrid optical zoom technology that offers increased zoom ranges of up to 159mm.

In virtually no time at all, OPPO has once again raised some eyebrows by releasing patents that would integrate with the punch hole camera.

Two patents were published to the Intellectual Property Office (WIPO); one of which shows a row of apps lined up across the top of the phone with the camera app covering the front-facing camera. This looks like a pretty nifty way to blend in the camera with the rest of the display.

Another patent suggests that the camera app’s permanence can be swiped across the display, unbinding it with the camera.

With releases of phones such as Samsung Galaxy S10, vivo APEX 2019 and OnePlus 7 on the horizon, it’s easy to see that full screen punch hole displays will be the new a trend for smartphones. OPPO’s dynamic design strategies could see them challenge the very best in the industry in the near future.
