It’s the end of the year – the end of the decade too actually; can we just put smartphone launches on hold for a bit. No? – okay fine.
The next brand to oversaturate the already crowded 2019 smartphone market is OPPO – this time with the introduction of the Reno 3 series as well as the A91 and A8. It is reported that we’ll see the Reno 3 make its public debut this Boxing Day – so that makes it three OPPO Reno devices this year if that’s true.
A brochure has surfaced on Weibo showing three Reno 3 devices – vanilla, Pro and 5G. They’re strikingly similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series with the vertical multi-camera modules and punch hole displays.
What’s impressive is that the Reno 3 Pro and 5G variants come with 90Hz panels; meanwhile, the regular Reno 3 will sport a 64MP main lens. From the looks of it, OPPO is just playing catch up by releasing these smartphones with updated hardware – but if they can implement them better than their peers, we could have proper daily driver-worthy devices in our hands.
Moving on to the A91 and A8 – they’re of course your run-of-the-mill mid-rangers – the former has a massive 4,800mAh battery with a generous 8GB+128GB memory configuration. The latter has a 6.5-inch display along with a smaller 4,250mAh battery. Both devices sport a similar build and a drop-notch display.
There’s no word yet on when it’ll officially arrive and how much they’ll cost, but stick around as we bring you the latest updates on the smarpthones.
