OPPO releases stunning camera sample of the R9s

With the OPPO R9s set for an October 19 launch less than a week from now, the company has officially released a camera sample said to be taken by the handset, and the results are promising.

Although not mindblowing, the image sample uploaded by OPPO of seagulls and the seaview does seem pretty impressive. The image is of crispy quality for its detail with a decent amount of saturation and dynamic range. The Chinese manufacturer has revealed that the OPPO R9S will be featuring 16MP cameras both on the back and front respectively. The company has also revealed that the handset will be using Sony’s IMX 398 image sensor for its camera, coupled by an f/1.7 aperture instead of the conventional f/2.2 aperture seen on other phones with the same sensor. The wider aperture will mean more light captured when taking photos, plus better low light performance as well.

Other specs that have been revealed by the folks at OPPO themselves include a Gorilla Glass 5 protected display, a mid range Snapdragon 625 processor, a 3,100mAh battery with OPPO’s own Super VOOC Charge technology onboard. This is very typical of a Chinese manufacturer, to sort of spoil the surprise party by revealing key details of a new device. Nevertheless, let’s hope that the OPPO R9s will impress us with its camera when it is out. What do you think?
