OPPO is once again adding to their 2020 smartphone lineup with another device – the latest addition is the OPPO A52 and it’s a mid-range smartphone that’s just been released in its native China.
The phone packs a 6.5-inch FHD+ display that has a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner of the screen. It pushes a tall aspect ratio of 20:9 so media consumption should be decent on this phone.

For imaging, the OPPO A52 rocks a rectangular module that’s reminiscent of the Huawei P40 series’ – its camera setup is a 12MP main shooter, an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. It’s odd to see a high-res camera absent from a mid-range smartphone – you’d expect at least a 40MP shooter.
Under the hood, the OPPO A52 comes with a modest Snapdragon 665 chipset alongside 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. On top of that, you can expand your storage using a microSD card. The phone is powered with a massive 5,000mAh battery that supports up to 18W of fast charging. Despite the large battery, there doesn’t seem to be any reverse charging support.

The phone ships with Android 10 with ColourOS 7 layered on top. There’s also an in-screen fingerprint reader for unlocking the phone. In terms of features, the OPPO A52 also packs a double stereo setup with Dirac-engineered surround sound audio.
The phone will be available in black and a white-blue gradient option. The phone is priced at 1,599 Yuan (RM992); this phone does remind us a bit of its cousin, the Realme 6i – it costs only RM699 and packs a 48MP quad camera setup, a 5,000mAh battery with reverse charging, and a similar 6.5-inch display; downgrades on the Realme is that you only get a 720p screen, and half the RAM.
