Android Oreo has been officially unveiled not too long ago, with Google finally revealing what the O in Android O stands for. OnePlus, a company who has been on a rollercoaster ride when it comes to its software updates, is reportedly testing Android Oreo software for its 2016 flagship in a closed beta.

This news comes from a beta tester in the program who informed the folks at Android Police. The closed beta program differs from that of the open beta program which is open to public OnePlus users. The internal beta version of Android Oreo for the OnePlus 3 is said to be very much unstable, with connections such as WiFi and Bluetooth still full of bugs, plus a non-functional NFC.

The OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 5 is currently running on Android Nougat. News of the company testing out Oreo privately is definitely good news for OnePlus users and fans. This means that OnePlus might be doing the same for the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5 as well, since priority is usually given to newer devices.

OnePlus hasn’t had a good run with its software, with the older OnePlus 2 left behind running only Android Marshmallow. The company also switched from CyanogenMod to its own OxygenOS for the OnePlus One after a whole fiasco with Micromax.
