OnePlus is said to be pretty focused on solely producing phones. Of course, they had other products such as a powerbank and a tiny drone. But according to the Wall Street Journal, the company might have side tracked a little to design and build a wearable, a smartwatch to be exact. When will it be out then? Well, the smartwatch got scrapped, how unfortunate.
In the interview by Wall Street Journal, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau claimed that the company completed the design of the hopeful wearable but eventually decided to abandon it. He further claimed that they have to be focused. Pete Lau did not reveal further details regarding the scrapped product, which is reasonable since he probably has to stay focused himself as well.
We’re guessing that the OnePlus smartwatch could have been set for a release some time in late 2014 or early last year, based on some leaked images by BGR India back in July 2014, allegedly showing a OneWatch which was apparently promoted on OnePlus’ website, showing the wearable which looked similarly designed like Motorola’s attractively tailored Moto 360. It could also mean that the OneWatch would’ve been running Google’s Android Wear. Regardless, it seems like OnePlus will be focusing on phones for the near future. The OnePlus 3 will be sold invite-free so that’s good progress. It will be launched next week so let’s focus on that too, shall we?
