OnePlus has released the OnePlus 3T, the successor of the 6 month old OnePlus 3 flagship in the US and Europe. The Chinese manufacturer has finally made its latest flagship handset official in its home country China, and the phone carries a significant lower price tag in China than in the US and Europe when converting directly across currencies. OnePlus has been pretty much silent regarding the details of a China launch of the OnePlus 3T, especially its price point, but it has all been revealed today.
Just to recap, the OnePlus 3T packs an updated processor underneath the hood, sporting a Snapdragon 821 processor that replaces the slightly older Snapdragon 820 seen in the OnePlus 3. The amount of RAM remains at 6GB, and OnePlus has added a new 128GB storage configuration on top of the 64GB variant. The Optic AMOLED display on the front remains the same at 5.5-inches at 1080p resolution. The 16MP rear facing shooter stays as well, but with a new EIS 2.0 technology for better video stabilization. The selfie camera on the other hand has been upgraded to 16 megapixels from 8 megapixels on the predecessor. The battery has also been upgraded without increasing the handset’s dimensions in any way. The OnePlus 3T features a 3,400mAh battery, 400mAh more than the 3,000mAh battery packed by the OnePlus 3.
The OnePlus 3T starts at 2,699 CNY in China, which directly converts to $392 (RM1,748.89), seemingly cheaper than the previously $399 priced OnePlus 3. The 128GB variant of the OnePlus 3T costs 2,999 CNY, which is the equivalent of $435 (RM1,940.73), priced lower than the base model in the OnePlus US store. One key difference between the global model and the Chinese model of the OnePlus 3T is the software, whereby the Chinese model runs on Hydrogen OS instead of Oxygen OS. The OnePlus 3T will go on sale tomorrow on the Chinese OnePlus online store. It won’t take long before we see grey importers shipping in Chinese OnePlus 3T’s to our local shores. What do you think?
