Oculus has announced the launch of the Rift Core 2.0, a new interface for the headset that brings about big changes to the system. Prior to this, users were just given a static interface for quite a while now. With this new update, users will be given a virtual environment for them to interact with and make it their home.
The virtual environment will allow users to decorate it with furniture and various interactive objects which you have over several hundred items to pick from and more will need to be unlocked by completing in-game achievements or other challenges. You can also visit your friends’ space and the company has mentioned that they are working on a real-time hangouts feature for multiple users to build together.
Sounds pretty good, but the best part is Oculus Dash, which lets you interact with your PC while wearing the headset. This allows you to bring up apps or browsers in a virtual environment to which you will be able to use it like you would on your computer.
This is quite similar to what Windows Mixed Reality can already do and even to the point of snapping them to a wall to make it easier to view, it even place furniture and other objects around your home already. Oculus said that they will be building on this features throughout 2018.
