NVIDIA's IRay technology brings virtual environments to life with photorealism

2016 seems to be the happening year for virtual reality and various technologies along the same line. With CES and MWC over, VR still shows no signs of slowing down in terms of development by multiple manufacturers worldwide. Last week, Microsoft announced at its Build keynote that HoloLens will start shipping out to developers. This time around, NVIDIA is joining the ranks of those who have made use of such technology, introducing the IRay.

Imagine putting on a VR headset and find yourself in a house which you’re planning to purchase, or viewing a vehicle’s interior, all in photorealism glory. NVIDIA’s IRay technology is able to create interactive virtual worlds with unparalleled fidelity. With the technology, users can create and simulate photorealistic virtual environments.

NVIDIA achieves photorealism with IRay technology by simulating the physical behavior of light and materials. Through that, the results reflect real-world behaviors, making users experience and immerse in a near life-like environment through their own eyes just by strapping on a VR headset. What do you think of NVIDIA’s development of IRay technology? Let us know your thoughts at the comments section below!
