Back when Nvidia first revealed the GTX 1060, many were saying that Nvidia will also have a 3GB variant of the GeForce GTX 1060 that would be a tad bit more affordable than the default 6GB version. According to recent rumours though, the 3GB GTX 1060 will no longer be a thing. Instead, Nvidia has decided to re-package it as the GTX 1050.

While Nvidia has not officially announced anything of the sort, an industry insider spoke to Tweaktown that Nvidia has decided against releasing the 3GB variant of the GeForce GTX 1060. This means that the GTX 1060 will only be available in the 6GB variant. Nvidia has since rechristened the 3GB GTX 1060 as the GTX 1050, and the current release date for this particular card would be in December.

As for specifications, the GTX 1050 is expected to have the same 192-bit memory bus that the GTX 1060 has, but with a 100W TDP instead. The card, much like the GTX 1060, will be powered by a single 6-pin PCIe power connector.
