NVIDIA has officially announced the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti GPU, its most powerful gaming graphics card ever made that features 10,752 CUDA cores and 24GB of the fastest 21Gbps GDDR6X memory. As a reference, NVIDIA claims that the RTX 3090 Ti is 60% faster than the RTX 2080 Ti and 55% faster than the TITAN RTX.
The RTX 3090 Ti uses the same Ampere architecture as the other RTX 30 series cards, the performance difference from the RTX 3090 include a faster base and boost clock speed of 1.67GHz and 1.86GHz respectively, 84 ray-tracing cores, 336 Tensor cores and 40 TFLOPS of single precision performance.
While you will most certainly get a slight performance bump in games, which NVIDIA claims up to 9% over the RTX 3090, NVIDIA is targeting the RTX 3090 Ti for more complex applications such as research systems for data science and AI, and large scale creative workflows that involves detailed models, super high resolution textures and massive sets.
In terms of power consumption, the RTX 3090 Ti could draw up to 450W from three PCIe 8-pin connectors, hence NVIDIA recommends an 850W power supply for any systems looking to pair up with the card.
Meanwhile, if you are interested in getting one, watch out pricing announcements from AIB partners such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Palit, INNO3D, Colorful and ZOTAC here in Malaysia, NVIDIA lists the RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition for US$1,999 in the US.
