It would seem inevitable that Nothing, the company founded by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, is about to make its next move on smartphones after debuting its much hyped Nothing Ear 1 wireless earbuds.

Carl Pei has apparently shown the prototype of the Nothing smartphone to Qualcomm executives during Mobile World Congress, the phone is expected to take design cues from the Nothing Ear 1, while Carl Pei has teased followers with ‘Back on Android’ tweet which the official Android Twitter account responded to.

Last year, Nothing bought rights into Essential, a smartphone company that’s founded by Andy Rubin, who is dubbed as the father of Android, which has so far only released one smartphone in 2017 and has cancelled subsequent phone launches since then, hence it would seem about time that Nothing did something with its investment, and we could probably expect some DNA from OnePlus as well and won’t be surprised if BBK Electronics is the company to manufacture the device.

Well, March is definitely a fun month for smartphones, let’s hope the Nothing Phone, or whatever it is going to be called, will live up to its hype.
