Nintendo’s online service is much cheaper compared to PS Plus

Nintendo has given us more information on their paid online subscription service for the Switch, with a confirm on the pricing and launch date. A smartphone app will also be launched alongside it which will allow players to invite friends, set up gaming sessions, or chat with friends during games on the second screen.

For now, playing online on the Switch will be free until the service comes out, which will cost $3.99 for one month, $7.99 for three months and $19.99 for a years subscription. In addition to that, subscribers will also get special deals on the eShop similar to what Sony is offering for PS Plus members. Nintendo’s back catalog of classic games will also be available for free and updated with multiplayer support, the company previously indicated that these games will only be available for a month at a time but they confirmed with Kotaku that users can play as many of the games as they want anytime as long as they keep their subscription alive.

The subscription service and mobile app will launch some point in 2018 with a limited version of the app launching this summer for people to try the system out before it launches.
