The age old question, “should I get an Intel or AMD processor”. Well we might need to change that phrase when buying a Windows 10 laptop because Qualcomm as just announced that they are going to join the PC market by putting their Snapdragon 835 processors into consumer laptops, their selling point is that the processor will have the best of both worlds by merging the best parts of mobile with the capabilities of the Windows 10 ecosystem.

On an assumption basis, this might still not be able to rival the processing power that the two giants can offer, but looking at the graphics we get on mobile phones, it might actually work out for casual use and perhaps gaming. According to Qualcomm, the 835 together with the Adreno 540 GPU, will deliver up to 25 percent faster graphics rendering than its predecessor GPU, the Adreno 530 and support ‘real-life-quality visuals’ as well as putting together a 4k 360 video in real-time.

In the end, these devices will focus on general purpose computing but vendors will most probably promote casual gaming as well, as games like Hearthstone will run well on the processor. Companies such as, Asus, HP and Lenovo are already committed to releasing Windows 10 devices that are sleek and fanless with the processor in them.
