After a long time, Skype’s new look will finally come to its desktop apps on Windows, Mac and Linux which follows the same design blueprint as the mobile app version.
The new update will feature customizable themes and more cat list customizations, users can also pin contacts and groups to make it easier to contact them. There is also an option to use a standard or compact view and collapse the chat list to focus in on the conversations. In addition to that, the app will now allow you to send files that are up to 300MB by just dragging and dropping and they claim that Skype will use less power as it is now fully cloud-based software. There also @mentions commands to get someone’s attention in a group chat, similar to what you can do on Whatsapp and status updates are also back alongside bots to easily manage the group chats.
Finally, they also added chat gallery for you to easily find media, links and files that have been sent to the group chat, again a feature that is familiar in Whatsapp. If you have auto update turned on you will be getting this update soon, or just go to Skype’s official website and download the latest version there.
