New Backup and Sync app will automatically backup files and pictures to Google Photos and Google Drive

Google has announced the launch of an all-in-one software that will backup and sync files and photos to Google Drive and Google Photos, conveniently enough the name of the software is called Backup and Sync and is available on Windows and Mac. The program is also simple enough to use, just select the files and folders that you want to backup and sync and the software will automatically do all the work of placing them in the correct cloud service.

In addition to that, Backup and Sync can also automatically import files from SD cards and USB drives when a camera, SD card, or other storage devices connected to the computer. There are also specific features like users can choose upload photos at a lower quality if you are low on space.

This is technically Google’s answer to the Time Machine, providing the same service to everyone and people that prefer to use Google’s cloud services against Apple’s iCloud, although it does not remember how your desktop looks like and position of your files, but it is a good step in that direction. Backup and Sync is available for download now through Google Drive and Google Photos.
