Remember that time where Netflix said that they will not be adding an offline playback mode ever? Well, the company has decided to do a 180-degree turn on that statement as Netflix’s offline playback mode has finally gone live for the iOS and Android app version of the streaming service.

In a press release issued today, Netflix has mentioned that the offline playback mode will allow Netflix subscribers to save movies or shows to watch later. The company did not go into too much detail as to what titles will be offline playback compatible, but it did mentioned that Netflix Originals such as Orange is The New Black, Narcos and The Crowd will be among some of the content that will be available for offline playback. It would be a safe bet to say that not everything on the Netflix catalogue will be available for offline playback, because licensing is complicated.

As for the offline playback system itself, the feature is pretty straightforward. Offline playback compatible content will sport a download option located on the content’s page. Once you’ve tapped on the download button, Netflix will download and store the video to your device, allowing you to watch said content whenever you’re free.
