While all eyes are on the premium smartphones at this year’s Mobile World Congress, the small time players shouldn’t be overlooked as well. ZTE’s subsidiary company Nubia has launched an entry level handset for those who just needs the basics of a mobile phone. Don’t worry, it is a smartphone. The Nubia N1 Lite is a lesser variant of the previously launched Nubia N1.
The Nubia N1 Lite sports a 5.5-inch display on the front with 2.5D glass. It is however not a Full HD display but rather just a HD display in 720p resolution. Underneath the hood, the phone is powered by an unspecified processor, but it is likely to be a MediaTek chip given the fact that the Nubia N1 carries one in it. Alongside the processor are 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
The Nubia N1 Lite features a “unipanel” on the back where the rear camera and the fingerprint sensor is located. The rear camera is of 8 megapixels with an f/2.0 aperture. The 5MP selfie camera on the front is surprisingly equipped with a dedicated flash, like the rear camera. Being an entry level device, the rear mounted fingerprint sensor is definitely an added bonus, with an unlock time of 0.3s.
The Nubia N1 Lite unfortunately will still be operating Android Marshmallow when it releases in March 2017. The phone will only head to a handful of countries – Germany, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, India, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
