MSI Malaysia updates workstation notebooks with Intel Kaby Lake CPU and NVIDIA Pascal Quadro graphics

Even though MSI is well known for its gaming notebooks, the company has also been one of the leading companies that manufactures workstation notebooks, and it has finally brought in the updated models that comes with Intel’s Kaby Lake processors and NVIDIA’s Pascal based Quadro graphics card, these new MSI workstation notebooks aims to offer the highest performance for graphics designers and professionals on the go. Among the new workstation notebooks, the WT73VR is marketed as the world’s first VR Ready workstation notebook, which professionals will now be able to develop high end VR applications and images using them.

As the flagship model of the MSI workstation series notebooks, the WT73VR brings over many similar hardware as its gaming sibling, you find an Intel Core i7 7820HK processor onboard with 32GB of DDR4 RAM (upgradeable to 64GB), a 512GB NVM.e SSD and 1TB 7200RPM hard drive, 17.3-inch Full HD IPS panel with Adobe 100% RGB color space, and SteelSeries RGB keyboard. What’s new here is that the WT73VR comes equipped with an NVIDIA Quadro P5000 GPU with 16GB of GDDR5X VRAM, this GPU is capable of unleashing 8.9 TFLOPS of compute power and has 2,560 CUDA cores. On a side note, the WT73VR does come with an Intel Xeon CPU model, however it isn’t available in the Malaysian market.

For professionals who are always on the go, the MSI WS63 is the lightest workstation notebook that weighs merely 1.8kg and measures 17.7mm, yet it comes with a decent 15.6-inch IPS display with a Full HD resolution, the WS63 comes equipped with an Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor with 16GB of DDR4 RAM (upgradeable to 32GB), rendering power is done by an NVIDIA Quadro P3000 GPU with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM, while storage is also very speedy with a 128GB NVMe SSD and 1TB 7200RPM hard drive. MSI has added a hardware TPM module into the WS63 and has included a fingerprint scanner located at the edge of the trackpad, the notebook also supports Windows Hello for its security feature.

Lastly, MSI has also updated the entry-level WE series workstation notebooks, and despite being entry-level, the WE72 is still no slouch when it comes to performance, as it still comes equipped with a Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor and NVIDIA Quadro M2200 4GB GPU, yet packing an impressive 17.3-inch Full HD IPS panel, a 128GB NVMe SSD and 1TB 7200RPM hard drive, which is still great hardware when it comes to performing rendering work.
