MSI introduces new Creator laptops with Intel Tiger Lake H processors

MSI has been consistently pushing out Creator laptops for a few years now and today, the company is getting even more committed in that line up by introducing several new models powered by Intel’s 11th Gen Tiger Lake H laptop processors and NVIDIA’s RTX 30 series discrete graphics at the MSIology ‘Tech Meets Aesthetic’  virtual event.

The Tiger Lake H series processors promises up to 30% performance upgrade over the last generation, it also comes with new features such as PCIe Gen 4, Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 6E, which greatly benefits creators in their workflow.

Creator Z16, Creator M16 – Two slim 16″ laptops that weighs 2.2kg

MSI has expanded its Creator laptop line up with the Creator Z16 and M16, they feature a 16:10 aspect ratio display as a standard. As the higher end model, the Creator Z16 sports an RTX 3060 Laptop GPU that pushes out a 120Hz refresh rate, there’s also plenty of ports selection such as two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two full-sized USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a high speed UHS-III MicroSD card reader, the laptop weighs 2.2kg which is considerably lightweight for a 16-inch laptop.

Step down to the Creator M16, it omits the 120Hz panel for a typical 60Hz refresh rate that also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, graphics power is still supplied by either an RTX 3050 or RTX 3050Ti Laptop GPU with both having 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Furthermore, the Creator M16 cuts down on ports and surprisingly it only supports PCIe Gen 3 storage instead of Gen 4, but thankfully it weighs the same as the Z16 at 2.2kg.

Creator 17 – World’s first Mini LED laptop gets upgraded with more firepower

The Creator 17 continues to lead the industry with its Mini LED panel that delivers up to 1000 nits of brightness and local dimming zones for viewing HDR content, MSI has refreshed this champ with up to an 11th Gen Core i9 processor and GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU, also new to the Creator 17 is support for 2.5Gbe Ethernet connection and a 99.9Whr battery, which should provide extended battery life compared to its predecessor, but more impressively it still managed to stay lightweight at 2.45kg and the new black finishing is rather attractive.

Pricing and Availability

MSI hasn’t announced pricing and availability on these machines in the virtual event, however we won’t discount the fact that the ongoing pandemic and chip shortage issue can potentially cause shipment delays, however if they are priced right and on time, these premium content creation laptops can definitely make a statement in the Malaysian market against devices such as Dell’s XPS line up and Apple’s MacBook Pro.
