Motorola reveals the finalists of the crowdsourced Moto Mods contest; now available for crowdfunding on Indiegogo

Last year, we’ve reported that Motorola will be collaborating with Indiegogo to host a contest to crowdsource ideas for new Moto Mods. Today, the finalists from said contest has been chosen, and all of the projects are now up on Indiegogo for the crowdfunding part of the contest.

Out of the 700 submissions that were sent to Motorola, the company has chosen 12 of them for crowdfunding. Now, the 12 finalists are required to hit their crowdfunding goal within the alloted period of time. The finalists for the Moto Mod contest features a mix of interesting and practical ideas such as a Moto Mod that gives the Moto Z wireless charging capabilities and even one that can transform the Moto Z into a walkie-talking.

Once the crowdfunding section of the contest is done, Motorola will announce 10 grand prizers winners in March. The winners will be judged based on their campaign originality, commercial viability, crowdfunding success, and the overall use of the modding platform. Winners will get a chance to present their ideas to the executives, and if their pitch manages to grab the attention of the executives, their will receive an investment from Lenovo Capital to bring turn their project into an actual working product for the mass market.
