After beating other browsers at the battery game, Microsoft is back once again as they have claimed that the Edge browser is the only browser out of the ‘Big Four’ that is capable of streaming Netflix content at 1080p.
First claimed by Microsoft last week, Microsoft claims that when compared with Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and the company’s own Edge browser, the Edge browser is the only one capable of streaming Netflix content at 1080p with a bitrate of 7500. The other browsers are all limited to 720p with a maximum bitrate of 4420. While this claim may feel false, Netflix does indeed support this statement as the only browsers that can support 1080p streams is limited to Edge, Internet Explorer and Safari.
If you’re still unconvinced with the claim, PCWorld has personally tested out this claim that only the Edge browser is capable of supporting 1080p streams from Netflix. The result further confirms that the Edge is the only one out of the four browsers stated above that can stream 1080p content from Netflix. In short, your Netflix and chills sessions will be better if you’re utilising Microsoft’s Edge.
