Microsoft reveals Cortana improvements for Windows 10 "Anniversary Update"

Two years after Cortana debuted, Microsoft is looking to make their own virtual assistant far more sophisticated.

At Build 2016, Microsoft revealed that Cortana would be receiving a bunch of new upgrades when the company releases the ‘Anniversary Update’ for Windows 10. Chief among those upgrades is that Cortana will now start making proactive suggestions throughout the day.

Microsoft showcased this improvement by having Cortana automatically add receipts to your expense reports. Cortana would also be able to use a combination of geo-location and historical data to bring up details about the places you’ve been previously.

Cortana would also be available at the Windows login screen as well, allowing you to access its features without needing to unlock your device. The Windows Store will also be including a section called Cortana Collection which houses apps that work well with the virtual assistant.

Windows 10’s ‘Anniversary Update’ is scheduled to go live during the Summer.
