Microsoft launches Mimicker Alarm app

There are two kinds of people in this world. One that springs into alertness by the sound of the alarm, and one that needs more motivation to get up. Microsoft has released an alarm app, meant more for the latter.

The Mimicker Alarm app for Android offers three mini games after hitting the snooze button. Powered by Project Oxford’s machine learning API’s, the games primarily focus on emotion, computer vision and speech.

“Express Yourself” requires you to take a selfie to match the given emotion. In “Color Capture”, users take pictures of an object of a given color by the game and in “Tongue Twister”. Mimicker gives you a phrase to repeat after, which will most likely put your brain to work.

The Mimicker Alarm app, apart from giving life to sleepy heads, is to give Microsoft an opportunity to boast Project Oxford which focuses on artificial intelligence.

For all you snoozers out there, the app is available for download on the Google Play Store, currently exclusive to Android users.
