One of the biggest omissions for Android’s Microsoft Health app is the lack of support for Microsoft’s personal digital assistant, Cortana. Previously, the only way to use Cortana with Microsoft Health is to own a Windows-powered smartphone. Such is no longer the case as an update released today has finally enabled Cortana support for Microsoft Health on Android.

In order to take advantage of Cortana for Microsoft Health on Android, a few requirements must be achieved before hand. First off, you’re going to need to have a Microsoft Band that is synced to your Android device of choice. Secondly, you must have updated the Microsoft Health app for Android. Most importantly of course is that you must have installed Cortana onto your Android device.

Once you’ve fulfilled all requirements, you can begin speaking into your Band’s mic, allowing you to leverage Microsoft’s personal assistant without having to take out your device from your pocket. “With Cortana on your Band, you can access your personal assistant for instant notifications of important events, communications, and voice-active info without reaching for your phon. Speak into the mic on your Band to get Cortana to take actions for you, get facts, and more,” says Microsoft.

Before you get too excited though, do remember that Cortana is currently only available in the U.S.. As such, you’re going to have to tinker with your device settings before being able to use it.
