In the light of the recent earthquakes that shook Ecuador and Japan over the weekend, tech company Microsoft has taken some steps to assist the families of victims and citizens living in the affected areas. The swift action by Microsoft was carried out through video calling platform, Skype. Our thoughts go out to the victims in the Kyushu region of Japan and the victims in Ecuador, both of which have had many lives taken when the quake struck.
Microsoft has taken the initiative to ensure that you’re able to get in touch with your friends and loved ones living in Japan and Ecuador at no cost via Skype. The company has decided to waive the costs of international and domestic calls to both regions for the next few days. In other words, all domestic and international Skype calls to both mobile and landlines to both Japan and Ecuador are free of charge for the next couple of days. Microsoft however, did not reveal a specific duration for the initiative.
Do note that this excludes calls to special, premium service and non-geographical numbers. Kudos to Microsoft for reacting promptly to the tragedies and playing their part in providing the ease of communication for families and friends involved.
