Microsoft discontinues the Band wearables

Shortly after discontinuing the Lumia line of smartphone, Microsoft is putting yet another piece of its hardware out to pasture as the company has removed the Microsoft Band wearable line for the company’s Store webpage.

With the Microsoft Store no longer selling any of the Bands, it appears that the only place that is still selling Microsoft’s wearable is Amazon. However, once the current stock of the wearable runs out, you won’t be able to get the device outside of the occasional online auction sites. Also removed is the Band’s software development kit, meaning that the Band appears to be retired for good.

For those of you who currently rely on the Microsoft Band 2, a Microsoft spokesperson has told ZDNet that the company will continue to support the device. While the Band will no longer have hardware associated with it, Microsoft won’t be retiring the “Band” name anytime soon as the company has recently renamed its Microsoft Health applications to “Microsoft Band.”
