The Xiaomi Mi MIX is still a fresh new device in many of our minds. Having launched late last month, Xiaomi’s concept phablet is possibly one of the most attractive and forward looking handsets this year, sporting a bezel-free display. Fellow Chinese manufacturer is gearing up for a 24th December event to launch “something unexpected”, and a Weibo user claims that the mysterious Meizu device will go head to head with Xiaomi’s Mi MIX.
According to tech blogger KJuma’s Weibo feed, he has uploaded a couple of phone renders alongside the 24th December Meizu launch date, hinting at a possible Mi MIX competitor. Although he did not mention it, based on the uploaded renders, the alleged Meizu handset sported a bezel-less screen as well. On top of that, or below the display in this case, there appears to be no chin at all unlike the Mi MIX.
In all fairness, these renders might just be an attempt to stir up some talk among those with the ordinary eye. First of all, the display appears to be unusually narrow for a smartphone, even if it is bezel-free. But having said that, shift your focus back to Meizu’s 24th December teaser, which tells us that these early renders might turn out to be at legitimate at the very least. Nevertheless, do take these rumors and renders with a huge grain of salt to avoid further disappointment. What do you think? Is Meizu capable of making a competing smartphone to Xiaomi’s Mi MIX?
