It sure seems like OPPO is trying to make every one of its handsets capable of taking at least fairly decent photos with their cameras, and this new entry level smartphone is no different. OPPO has unveiled the A37, with a budget price tag, entry level specs and a respectable camera setup.
For starters, the OPPO A37 sports a 5-inch display at 720p resolution, which is pretty much expected from an entry level smartphone. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 410 SoC, alongside 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage via micro SD. As for the A37’s camera department, its rear camera is an 8MP sensor with 1.4um sized pixels, theoretically allowing better light capturing, which results in better quality and less grainy images under low lighting conditions. OPPO has also revived its image enhancing feature on its camera app, which processes five images, stitching them together into a lovely high-res image equivalent to 24MP. On the front, the selfie camera stands at 5MP, with the same pixel size as the rear shooter.
As for battery, the OPPO A37 features 2,630mAh battery, which should be sufficient considering what the handset offers on paper. A letdown however, is the fact that the A37 still runs on the somewhat ancient Android 5.1 Lollipop, with OPPO’s own Color OS 3.0 UI on top of it. The phone comes with a reasonable price tag of $199 (RM806.72) for what it packs. What do you think about the OPPO A37 as a budget but camera focused handset?
