It’s undeniable that Maxis has better coverage compared to some other telcos, and now the huge telco company has decided to collaborate with UTAR to offer high speed fibre and connectivity to UTAR students.

UTAR has two campuses — Kampar and Sungai Long. Both campuses will soon be equipped with high speed Internet services, 1Gbps fibre Internet to be exact. Paired with Maxis’ Internet Protocol Metro Area Network (IPMAN) that will be available in the future, UTAR students will be able to increase their bandwidths for faster Internet browsing.

In addition to that, both UTAR campuses will also be able to enjoy Maxis’ “Always-On” and “Worry Free” mobile connectivity that is built around the fastest 4G LTE network. This could be particularly useful to Kampar students, especially when they’re attending classes in Lecture Complex II or taking their breaks in Student Pavillion II — two places where the mobile connectivity is usually the weakest.

“High speed Internet access is essential for campus life and will be beneficial especially during a surge in traffic, such as during our Open Day where there are new student intakes and registrations throughout the year. With a quality network and higher capacity that Maxis has provided, we can certainly expect a better student experience, especially during peak periods,” said Prof Ts Dr Faidz bin Abd Rahman, UTAR Vice President of R&D and Commercialisation.

This isn’t Maxis first collaboration with universities and it’s highly unlikely that it will be the last.
