Maxis has collaborated with aquariaKLCC to reveal its first 5G Augmented Reality (AR) with marine life, so users can make use of 5G technology to learn more about ocean and be more aware on ocean conservation for the next few months when they visit aquariaKLCC.
This partnership between aquariaKLCC and Maxis is one of the use cases of 5G Malaysia Demonstration Projects announced by MCMC. There will be other showcases revolving around agricultures and high-speed connectivity to homes which will be happening in the next few months at places like Langkawi and Gamuda Cove.
The booth at aquariaKLCC has their own handheld devices to allow visitors to get an immersive experience of ocean life just by moving around the devices. These devices are also paired with headphones so that visitors get both the visual and audio experience of marine life.
The Chairman of MCMC, Encik Al-Ishsal Ishak, mentioned that 5G network is targeted to be available to everyone around the second half of 2020. The aquariaKLCC showcase is not the first 5G use case demo; in fact, a Putrajaya showcase was held back in April.
