Android Marshmallow has finally arrived to the OnePlus X, roughly a month after OnePlus released a Community Build carrying the new flavor of Android, though it isn’t new already. Oxygen 3.1.2 has made its way to the OnePlus X, making it the first official Marshmallow build for the handset.
The incremental update includes various updates, new features and improvements over the previous build which runs on the older Android Lollipop. Some of the default new features that come with Android Marshmallow are Doze Mode for battery optimization, and App Permissions. The launcher will now have new icon packs, customizability of the Google Search bar, plus a redesigned wallpaper picker. OnePlus’ own Shelf UX has been improved for better customization as well. The software update brings in a couple of new apps to the table, namely OnePlus’ own Gallery app and Music Player app. Other than that, the Alert Slider on the OnePlus X can be further customized from last time. On top of those, the update will improve general system performance, bug fixes and is based on Android’s October security patches.
The software update is available via OTA. The team at OnePlus has reminded that the update will roll out to a handful of users today, before rolling out to the rest over the next couple of days. The OnePlus X, like other Snapdragon 801 powered devices, is expected to only go as far as Android Marshmallow. The full details regarding the update are available at the source link below.
